About Me
Hi, I'm Marcia! I live in Elberta, Alabama with my husband, our dog, and two cats. Our home is where I work from my small studio to bring to life all my unique creations. While I am well known throughout many local festivals and galleries for my greatest love, handmade copper jewelry design, it is not my only talent. I am also a professional seamstress and costume designer for theatre and recitals as well as a professional floral designer who has worked in local shops and as a freelancer. Above all, I strive to create one-of-a-kind, wearable art for the adventurous!
about my process
My jewelry designs are brought to life using reclaimed and new copper. I apply a variety of classic and current methods to twist, hammer, weave, etch, and stamp shapes before accenting pieces with semi-precious stones, pearls, fossils, glass, and crystal beads.
Once finished, I oxidize the pieces in a bath of LOS (liver of sulfur), dry and buff them with 0000 steel wool, and then wash and polish them in a tumbler with steel shot. The result is an intricately beautiful distressed, aged appearance that will gain an even more stunning finish with lifelong wear.
